Key Stages of our Film

Key stages of our Film
By creating the key stages of our film, we are able to move forward with a clear idea of what our plot is, and what characters we'll need. From here we can go on easily to choose key shots from the film plot that will give a sense of genre, story line and create tension.

·      4 teens, pack the car , ready to go to an illegal rave.
·      They go to take a short cut through the woods.
·      But crash into a tree, they are stranded.
·      Together they decide to go to try and find help.
·      In the forest they discover strange things and traps, they get hurt but try and find help, but  two of them get seriously hurt or die.
·      They see a light in the window of a small hut  and they’re saved.
·      Inside the house its dark you can see strange markings on the walls and strange weapons, nobody’s there.
·       Panicked, they go to leave the door slams trapping the girl inside.
·      We hear screaming as they try to get her out.
·      One survives.

Photo Mood Board

Bringing images together from the films that my trailer would be based on helped me to imagine what my project would look like, what shots i would use and ideas for scenes as well as the plot. Looking at other films meant that i could see how they use lighting, angles and imagery to create tension.

Trailer Plan

Looking at the different conventions of a trailer i made them into headings around my trailer plan, as a group we then started to bullet point ideas. This helped us to think of the different choices we were making and how they would fit together to make the trailer work and how the actual film story line would go.

Planning our Trailer
We plan to make a Horror trailer and have looked at these films to base it on:
·
Severence - When a weapons multi-national Palisade Defence reward their European sales division with a team-building weekend in the mountains of Eastern Europe, comedy blends with horror as the team fight first amongst themselves, and later for survival against a group of war-crazed killers intent on revenge.
·
The Hills have Eyes - While travelling in a trailer to California through the New Mexico Desert, a family is misled to a shortcut going to nowhere by the owner of an isolated gas station and wrecks the car in a rock. Along the night and on the next day, they are attacked by a group of deformed cannibals, fruit of the atmospheric nuclear tests conducted by USA from 1945 to 1962 in that spot. Absolutely trapped by the psychotics, they have to fight to survive.
·
Blair Witch Project - Three film students set out into the Black Hills Forest to make a documentary on the legendary Blair Witch. Armed with a 16mm camera, a Hi8 video camera, and a DAT recorder, every step, word and sound is captured. After wandering around the Black Hills Forest, Heather, Josh, and Mike are cold, lost and hunted. Finally, one night after the last ray of light had left the forest black, they were never to be seen again. One year later, a bag full of film cans, DAT tapes, and video tapes were found. The behind the scenes, video footage and the film, are cut together, and this is..."The Blair Witch Project."
